Staircases & doors

Staircase fitting and door hanging in London

Stairs and doors get used every day, so they have to be right: doors that close with an even gap all the way round, and staircase joinery that's solid, straight and cleanly finished.

Staircases

Every inch under the stairs.

The space under the stairs is usually wasted. With careful planning it becomes some of the most useful storage in the house.

  • Storage under the stairs, designed round what's there — structural posts included
  • Angled doors and pull-out drawers that follow the line of the stairs
  • Staircase joinery, finished cleanly where it meets walls and floors

Doors

Doors that close properly.

A badly hung door catches, drifts open or shows a gap that widens towards the top. A well hung one you never think about.

  • Internal doors hung so they close with an even gap all the way round
  • Door linings and architraves, mitred and fitted tight
  • Hinges, latches and handles fitted

Questions

Common questions.

Do you charge for quotes?

Quotes from photos and drawings are free. If I need to see the space first, there's a charge for the site visit — I'll tell you the cost up front, and it comes off the final bill if you go ahead.

What size of job do you take on?

Most projects I take on start from around £2,500. I don't take on extensions, skirting or small shelving jobs, so I can give proper time to the projects I do.

Can you hang doors I've already bought?

Usually, yes. Send me a photo of the doors and the openings, and I'll tell you what's involved.

Are you qualified and insured?

Yes: City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 2, SMSTS, and I carry public liability insurance.

Tell me about your project.

Send a few photos or drawings and a rough idea of budget, and I'll reply within 1 working day.
